Job Description:

The Medical Office Secretary/ Transcriptionist transcribes and types medical reports such as case histories, discharge summaries, operative reports, and consultation reports from recorded dictation. Ensures accuracy in medical terms and tests dictation equipment daily, and other duties as assigned. Will also have medical office duties.

¨ Effective transcription process

¨ Accuracy in medical terms, grammar

¨ Effective distribution of original and copies

¨ Maintains log of transcribed dictation

¨ Dictation equipment availability

¨ Assigns CPT codes

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

¨ High school diploma or equivalent;

¨ Extensive knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy and physiology

¨ Transcribe and print pathology reports.

¨ Must possess sufficient academic, technical and clerical skills and knowledge to evaluate, troubleshoot, research and resolve day-to-day issues.

¨ Accurately enter patient information onto patient medical record.

¨ Be able to perform numerous tasks at a time.

¨ Answer phones

¨ Assist with verifying insurance through Passport and GE software

¨ Pulling slides and paperwork when needed

¨ 60 WPM preferred

-Medical office experience preferred
