Job Description:

Greets patients and visitors and verifies patient information in the NextGen system. Performs automated appointment scheduling. Registers patients and updates demographic information. This position maintains patients’ medical charts and receives co-payments for the visit. Provides excellent patient and physician customer service. And other duties as assigned.

¨      Greets Callers: Effectively checks in patient by:  Greeting upon arrival, verifying benefit coverage, verifying and enter referral, verifying and update FSC and demographic information, sending messages       through our EMR, generating lab/procedure order, pharmacy provider, obtaining complete medical history and HIPAA forms.

¨      Patient scheduling process: Effectively scheduling patients directly through patients and from the hospital.

¨      Telephone Processes: Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and follow all policies and metrics given by management. 

¨      Messages: Be able to take accurate information in NextGen.

¨      Verify insurance and update as needed:  Accurately enter patient insurance.

¨      Office Administration: Accurately generates no show and missed appointment letters, dictation; sorts and distributes mail and faxes; sources translation services

¨      Patient satisfaction: Meets patient and physician expectations

¨      Work with Providers need appointments: Effectively checks out patient by: scheduling return appointments & procedures, collecting and posting co-pay and self-pay balance, coding accurately and completing encounter forms.

¨      Telephone support: Answers, screens & directs incoming calls and answers basic patient related questions and/ or problems.

¨      Billing and HIPAA regulatory compliance: Complies with letter and spirit of Billing and HIPAA regulations

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :

¨      High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 –2 years’ work experience in a medical setting

¨      Effective interpersonal and communication skills required

¨      Excellent telephone etiquette

¨      Knowledge of medical terminology preferred /skills using medical billing system preferred

¨      Typing skills of 25 words per minute with 90% accuracy

¨      Ability to prioritize and multi-task
