Job Description:

Performs appointment scheduling and registration for patients as well as updating demographic information. Performs a variety of patient care activities to assist physicians. Prepares the examination room for the patient as well as taking patient vital signs and recording vitals in medical chart. This position also maintains patients’ medical charts and receives co-payments for the visit. Must be efficient with the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Excellent communication skills are essential for this position. Ensures and maintains the confidentiality of patient information and other UCH business information in accordance with HIPAA and other compliance standards. Complies with the Code of Conduct and other established policies, including but not limited to compliance, quality and safety. Acts in accordance with University Clinical Health’s mission at all times.

Experience and Skills:

KEY RESULT AREAS (KRAs)

¨ Effective interpersonal and communication skills required

¨ Excellent telephone etiquette

¨ Knowledge of medical terminology preferred /skills using medical billing system preferred

¨ Typing skills of 25 words per minute with 90% accuracy

¨ Ability to prioritize and multi-task

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

¨ High School diploma or equivalent

¨ Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited teaching establishment; 12 months to 2 years of related work experience is preferred

¨ If not currently certified, must obtain certification within first 90 days of employment.

¨ Keyboarding skills and aptitude to learn patient database program

¨ Knowledge of OSHA requirements

¨ Knowledge of medical terminology

¨ Effective interpersonal and communications skills
